Paver Patios, Walkways and Aprons That Stay Level
Pavers look great the day they go in. The question is whether they still look great in ten years. Ours are set on a compacted item #4 base with proper edge restraint and polymeric sand, to help resist movement and reduce weed growth.
What goes into our pavers & patios
Base built like a driveway
Excavation and a compacted granular base designed for the site, with bedding and edge restraint suited to the selected paver system.
Edges that hold
Belgian block, concrete or stone curbing along the perimeter keeps the field from spreading.
Polymeric sand and compaction
Joints are swept with polymeric sand and the field is plate-compacted, so the surface locks together.

Pavers & Patios FAQ
Pavers or asphalt for a driveway?
Pavers cost more up front and look like nothing else. Asphalt is the practical choice for long driveways. Many customers do an asphalt driveway with a paver or Belgian block apron and border to get both.
Will weeds grow between the pavers?
Polymeric sand hardens in the joints and keeps most weeds and ants out. Sealing the surface helps further.
Can you build a patio around a pool or hot tub?
Yes. Pool decks, hot tub pads, fire pit areas and outdoor kitchens are regular projects for our masonry crew.
